국문요약 

이 연구의 모티프는 삼국유사 속 가야의 허황옥 설화에 등장하는 쌀[粳米]과 바닷길이다. 쌀과 농경은 그 자체가 문화의 문제로 이 연구의 목적은 한반도 내 도작농경의 기원과 도작유형에 대한 선행연구를 바탕으로 한국지역의 벼 품종과 분포 양상을 실증적인 맥락에서 파악하여 신화가 신화로만 그치지 않고 실제 역사적인 사실이었을 개연성을 논증하여 삼국유사 속 허황옥 설화를 재조명하는 데 있다. 연구범위는 고대 해상루트를 중심으로 인도에서 동남아시아, 중국 남부, 한국 동남부와 일본 남서부에 이르는 지역을 포괄한다. 연구방법은 한국의 고고유적 속 탄화벼를 대상으로 벼 식물유체에 대한 식물화학적이고, 미시적인 분석과 집적된 고고학 자료를 활용하였다. 즉, 고분에서 출토된 탄화미의 연대기와 구조, 남한 지역의 앵미[赤米] 등 이형주(異型株, Off-typed rice) 분포가 주된 분석대상이다. 이를 통해 두 가지가 논증되었다. 하나는 한국지역에서 현재 낙동강 등 가야문화권역에서만 나타나는 Indica형 야생벼의 존재는 인도의 농경문화와 상관성이 있음을 밝힌 것이고, 다른 하나는 가야가 성립하기도 전에 출현한 Indica 탄화벼에 대한 논제로 이들 탄화벼는 남인도를 중심으로 인도네시아 등지에 고르게 분포되어 있는 거석문화를 주도했던 고대인들과 연관되어 있음을 정리한 것이다.

Review of the folk tale of Hwangok Heo in Samgukyusa through analysis of carbonized rice in archaeological relics and the dispersion of indica type wild rice in the Gaya cultural area

This study is based on rice [粳米] and maritime route in the folk tale of Hwang-Ok Heo of Gaya in the history of three kingdoms[Sam Guk Yu Sa, 三國遺事]. Rice or rice farming is a matter of culture itself, and this study is an actual analyzing of rice cultivar and discretion across Asia, in addition to previous studies on the origins and types of rice farming on the Korea. The purpose of this study is to compare structures and demonstrate exchanges between an ancient Korean kingdom, Gaya and ancient India. The method and object is on a macroscopic view of the region from India to Southeast Asia, South China, Southwest Japan and Southeast Korea centering on ancient maritime routes. However, a microscopic analysis centering on carbonized rice excavated in the Gimhae region of Korea is most important. In other words, the chronology and structure of carbonized rice excavated from the relics, and the discretion of off-typed rice in the South Korean region, are the main targets. Through this, it will be demonstrated that the emergence of wild rice of the Indica rice, which appears only in the Gimhae region within the Korea, is correlated with the agricultural culture of India.
